The Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH-BARMM) joins the entire Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in the kick-off ceremony of the month-long celebration of the Bangsamoro History Month conducted today, March 6, 2023, at the Office of the Chief Minister Quadrangle, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.
Spearheaded by the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), the activity was participated by several BARMM Regional Employees who also attended the Flag Raising Ceremony. MPOS Minister Hussein Muñoz also underlined during his message that the month-long celebration is considered the most progressive step in achieving the Bangsamoro aspiration, as it encourages the people to take pride in the history and identity through enhancing national unity by mainstreaming Bangsamoro History.
This was supported by the statement of BCPCH Chairperson Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D. who emphasized that the Bangsamoro identity is deeply rooted in the history and culture that has been a testament to both our struggles and aspirations.
“Being the lead agency in the process of meaningfully putting forward our narratives as groups of people serves as an avenue of opportunities and a challenge as well… Let the course of our history ignite our passion and determination to reflect and put into action our path towards a better Bangsamoro”. – Chairperson added.
Part of the highlights of the activity included the Retelling of the Buddajo Massacre narrated by BCPCH Community Affairs Officer V Aaron-Jeff D. Usman, and series of Quiz Trivias on Bangsamoro History participated by employees of different ministries and offices of the BARMM.
In line with the Bangsamoro History Month celebration is the ongoing contests under BCPCH-BARMM such as the Tiktok Historical Infomercial Challenge (BARMM Schools: Junior and Senior High), and the Online Essay Writing Contents (BARMM Regional Employees).
The Bangsamoro History Month is celebrated for its significant and historical events that contributed to achieving peace and the right to self-determination in the Bangsamoro pursuant to the declaration of the Chief Minister through Proclamation No. 0001, series of 2021.
