With the aim to collectively craft a Culture and Development Agenda toward the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of the multicultural peoples of Mindanao, BCPCH Key Officials headed by Chairperson Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D. partake as resource persons in the LAMBIGIT Conference in the Magnaga Waters Resort, Pantukan Municipality, Davao de Oro Province on May 19-20, 2023.
Participated by the members of “KAISA sa SINING”, a network of cultural organizations and institutions in Mindanao, together with selected Barangay Officials and Indigenous People’s Mandatory Representatives (IPMR) coming from various regions in Mindanao, BCPCH Chairperson Lingasa along with Community Affairs Officer V Aaron-Jeff D. Usman shared the history of cultural preservation in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and the current policies and heritage safeguarding initiatives that the Commission has instituted in the region including the Commission’s mandates, programs and activities, and the overall development plan for culture and trajectory of the BARMM Regional Government.
Apart from gathering local leaders representing several multicultural grassroots communities linked to the KAISA sa SINING Network to discuss the current conditions of the ICH of their respective communities, the three-day conference also focuses on strengthening the collaboration and partnerships between the members of KAISA sa SINING Network in Mindanao and the local Barangay Leaders and IPMRs in safeguarding the identified priority community of ICH.
BCPCH, as the leading institution in preserving the history culture, arts, traditions, and rich cultural heritage in the BARMM strengthens its mandates through the enhancement of the 12-point agenda of the BARMM’s Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim, and the inclusion of culture and heritage in the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan 2023-2028. The three-day conference envisioned strengthening the leadership capabilities of the Barangay Leaders and IPMRs who contributed to the cultural and socio-economic reinvigoration of their respective communities.
