As a member of the Social Development Committee (SDCOM), BCPCH-BARMM, together with MIPA and MOST, took charge of the Special Geographic Areas (SGA) booth, which remarkably opened at the Bangsamoro Government Center, offering a captivating display of the regionโs diverse cultural heritage. The SGA booth, alongside booth exhibits from other committees, attracted a large crowd, including students, professionals and visitors eager to explore the traditions, art, and craftsmanship that define the Bangsamoro region.
The booth displayed cultural heritage through a collection of handcrafted textiles. The iconic malong, featuring ten distinct patterns, as well as tubaw, shawl, and pouches, were all skillfully woven by local women artisans. These items not only highlighted the beauty of Bangsamoro culture but also offered visitors an opportunity to take home a piece of that heritage.
In addition to promoting cultural appreciation, the booth played a significant role in supporting local artisans. The sale of these handcrafted goods provided crucial income for the women weavers, with all proceeds directed back to their communities.ย
Johanna Guiani Mascod, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer of Kadangayan, expressed her pride in the women involved. Mascod shared with pride.ย
Meanwhile, Tawi-Tawiโs cultural booth offered visitors a different experience, featuring the provinceโs special delicacies. In addition to free food tastings, a โSpin-to-Win Wheelโ game added an element of fun and excitement, giving visitors a chance to win various prizes.
The founda attracted a diverse group of visitors, from students to professionals, all eager to immerse themselves in the culture of the Bangsamoro. For many, it was not just an opportunity to celebrate local traditions but also to support the communities working to preserve them. The event celebrated the strength of local customs and showcased the remarkable talents that continue to define the Bangsamoro spirit.
