The Inception Meeting & Research-Writing Colloquium on the history of the 13 Muslim-majority ethnolinguistic groups of Mindanao, Sulu, and Palawan concluded successfully on January 16-17, 2025, at the New Dawn Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Organized by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) in partnership with MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) and the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH-BARMM), the event gathered researchers, scholars, and participants from across the region.

This two-day program marked the first phase of a multi-year research project aimed at documenting the rich history of Muslim Mindanao from the perspectives of its 13 ethnolinguistic groups.

Participants engaged in meaningful discussions and narrative writing sessions that will contribute to a comprehensive historical record of the region’s culture and heritage.
