Honoring the historical contributions of Bangsamoro Women in setting the foundation of the Bangsamoro identity through a series of short videos, the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH– BARMM) under the leadership of Chairperson Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D. awards the top eight (8) aspiring Bangsamoro digital content creators during the culmination of this year’s Bangsamoro History Month Tiktok Infomercial Competition conducted on March 14, 2024 at the Bangsamoro Museum, SKCC Building, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.

Bearing the theme “Commemorating the History for a Stronger, Enduring, and Resilient Bangsamoro” the one-to-three-minute video competition facilitated by the History and Archives Section headed by Senior History Researcher Esnaira Salem aims to pay tribute to Bangsamoro women and their contribution in the history as aligned the National Women’s Month which is also being celebrated this March.

Taking advantage of the increase of popularity of various social media platforms, the Commission intends to inculcate in the present generation of students such as those in Junior and Senior High School the significance of knowing and learning about our roots by engaging them in series of competitions that will encourage research and creative presentation on the historical background of various Bangsamoros especially the women who have reached great feat in various fields like politics, public service and more.

Among those who have excelled are the top three (3) winners led by the Champion – Sittie Aisa D. Ibrahim (Parang National High School); 1st runner up – Rehana S. Satar (Sarilikha National High School); and 2nd runner up – Jasem Akmad Tanggote (Parang National High School) who shall receive certificates and cash prizes in their respective rankings.

Valuing the remarkable skills of our amateur content creators, another set of five (5) videos were then awarded with special prizes for making it to the shortlist. These winning entries are created by the following students: 1. Nejla Nawal Mindo (Coland Systems Technology Incorporated); 2. Monalyn L. Mimbala (Parang National High School); 3. Omira B. Bago (Parang National High School); 4. Yashmer S. Abedin (Cotabato City National High School – Main Campus); and Mamot Guianon (Cotabato City National High School – Main Campus).

Emphasizing the importance of commemorating Bangsamoro History Month, Chairperson Lingasa asserts that this event is essential to BARMM’s identity and legacy. Compared to last year’s competition that focused solely to the history of the Bangsamoro people, this year’s Tiktok Infomercials also highlight the Bangsamoro Women who have been instrumental in maintaining our history.

BCPCH is the primary institution in preserving the history, culture, arts, tradition, and rich cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro people across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The Commission is currently under the leadership of Chairperson Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D.
