In his speech, BCPCH Chairperson and concurrent Commissioner for Maguindanao Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D., underscored that the said contests were extremely important to our identity, culture, and history as these identity-based contests demonstrated the participants’ interest and concern for our history and culture.
“Talking about unity among the Bangsamoro people, our century-old struggle and resistance against colonizers and oppressors are more than enough to serve us as a unifying factor. There is no doubt that the primary objective of our struggle is to protect, preserve, and promote our identity and cultures based on our religious belief”, Chairperson Lingasa added.
Under Proclamation No. 00001 s. 2021 issued by the Chief Minister on March 8, 2021, declaring the month of March 2021 and every year thereafter as “Bangsamoro History Month” where the establishment of the BARMM is a monumental milestone in the course of the Bangsamoro peace process and the Bangsamoro Government recognizes the many other significant occasions in the history of the Bangsamoro in pursuit of peace and the right to self-determination.
