5th Bangsamoro Foundation Day Kick-Off Ceremony

More cultural programs are set to be implemented in the region, specifically in Cotabato City. This is in line with the signing of the Mutual of Understanding (MOU) between BCPCH Chairperson and concurrent Commissioner for Maguindanao Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D., and Cotabato City Mayor Hon. Bruce Dela Cruz Matabalao during the Commission’s courtesy visit on February 1, 2023 at Office of City Mayor, City Hall, Cotabato City.

The signed Mutual of Understanding (MOU) of BCPCH and the city government of Cotabato gives a green light for future collaborations on the implementation of cultural projects and activities highlighting the preservation, conservation and promotion of the Bangsamoro culture and heritage.

BCPCH Chairperson Lingasa, Ph.D., stressed that the Commission has the primary mandate to write the Bangsamoro History in the Bangsamoro perspective, and shall lead the preservation and conservation of the BARMM cultural heritage through the Commissioners representing the five provinces of BARMM and with guidance from Ex-Officio Commissioners for Indigenous Peoples and Settlers.

With Cotabato City being the melting pot of Bangsamoro cultures, Cotabato Mayor Bruce Matabalao emphasized that the Office of the City Government is widely open to any assistance that the City LGU can provide especially when there  are many historical and authentic cultural facts that can be documented as part of the records for inclusion in the Bangsamoro history.

To show the Commission’s gratitude for the support from the City Tourism Office and the City Government of Cotabato in general, other BCPCH Key Officials present during the courtesy visit include  Executive Director Akmad Mama, Planning and Operations Division Chief Aaron-Jeff Usman, Senior Museum Research Glenn Francis Lanticse, and Senior Legal Assistant Mohaimin Abdulgani.

The event is considered as a historic moment by the Commission since the relationship between the two institutions, representing the City and the Bangsamoro Government, is very much tied because of the shared cultures and heritage.

BCPCH is the primary institution in preserving the history, culture, arts, tradition, and rich cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro people across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
