COTABATO CITY – Wearing Tubaw (a handwoven head scarf) for male and donning yellow hijabs for female symbolizing cultural heritage and solidarity, cultural workers of the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH-BARMM) participated in the 6th Bangsamoro Foundation Day Parade on January 20, 2025, which commenced at Sardonyx Plaza and concluded at the Bangsamoro Government Center. The event showcased cultural pride and unity, bringing together government officials, employees, and community members.

Following the parade, an opening program was held at the Office of the Chief Minister grounds. Government officials and dignitaries delivered speeches highlighting the achievements of the Bangsamoro region over the past six years.Β

In his opening remarks, BARMM Senior Minister Hon. Abunawas L. Maslamama expressed his pride in celebrating the historical milestone. β€œThe establishment of BARMM was a historic achievement. Today, we reflect on our progress guided by the principles of peace and prosperity,” said Senior Minister Maslamama.

Maguindanao del Norte Governor Hon. Abdulraof A. Macacua reaffirmed the region’s commitment to resilience and unity guided by Moral Governance. β€œThe Bangsamoro Foundation Day symbolizes the long history of the Bangsamoro people,” Gov. Macacua stated.

Cotabato City Mayor Hon. Mohammad Ali β€œBruce” D. Matabalao also highlighted the region’s journey of courage and unity. β€œWith the creation of BARMM, Cotabato City is now reaping the benefits of this historic transformation,” he added.

BARMM Chief Minister Hon. Ahod B. Ebrahim, Alhaj, in his anniversary message, thanked the Bangsamoro people for their role in the region’s progress. β€œIn the past six years, we have achieved significant milestones – from establishing functional government structures to fostering peace, from enacting legislation to empowering our youth and women, and from uplifting our communities to transforming governance and bureaucracy in a way that reflects our faith,” the Chief Minister said.

Marking the 6th Bangsamoro Foundation Commemoration is more than just a celebration, but a tribute to six years of dedicated service. It highlights the unity of Bangsamoro culture and evidence to the sacrifices – the sweat, blood, and lives – of its ancestors that led to the establishment of the Bangsamoro Government.

The week-long celebration, happening from January 20 to January 24, 2025, features a variety of activities, including cultural booths beside the Office of the Chief Minister’s building within the Bangsamoro Government Center. These booths represent the provinces of the region, including the Special Geographic Areas (SGA), alongside free services offered to BARMM constituents in both mainland and island areas.Β

As part of the festivities, BCPCH-BARMM offers a Museum Tour to promote cultural awareness and celebrate the diverse heritage of the Bangsamoro people. With free admission, the museum provides an accessible opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of the region. Visitors are welcome without prior reservations, and group tours are available, making it an ideal destination for schools, organizations, and families. The museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, excluding weekends and holidays.Β

The 6th Bangsamoro Foundation Day emphasizes the Bangsamoro Government’s dedication to honoring its rich cultural legacy and the sacrifices of its ancestors, as well as its commitment to progress and unity.

BCPCH is the primary institution in preserving the history, culture, arts, tradition, and rich cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro people across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
