BCPCH showcases Sama Culture for Cultural Booth Kickoff on Bangsamoro Governance Day

After years of inactivity due to health restrictions caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic and learning to adapt to the new normal, the Bangsamoro Museum under the management of the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH – BARMM) celebrates its 4th Anniversary on February 15, 2023 at the Bangsamoro Museum, SKCC Building, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.

Spearheaded by Museum Management and Development Senior Museum Researcher Glenn Francis C. Lanticse, the anniversary program is composed of an audio-visual presentation highlighting the transformation of the then Bangsamoro Museum since it was founded in 2019 until now. A surprise mini quiz show involving fellow BCPCH cultural workers from the Regional and Maguindanao Offices also occurred in order to refresh knowledge of the participating cultural advocates about the museum trivia.

Commending the success of the activity, BCPCH Chairperson Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D. and Executive Director Akmad D. Mama recognized the efforts of the museum team in managing the museum well.

Chairperson Lingasa also reiterated his plans to create mobile museum boxes showcasing the diverse history and cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro people. In this way, more audiences particularly local communities can be reached through these moving exhibits.

Officially launched on February 4, 2019, the Bangsamoro Museum serves as the repository of artifacts, artworks, and documents relevant to the cultural and historical memory of the people within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The Museum is responsible for the acquisition, documentation, preservation, and exhibition of artifacts, works of art, and textual and iconographic records representative of the region’s unique and its people’s diverse cultures.

The Bangsamoro Museum is open for scheduled group tours and walk-in visitors daily during its business hours from Mondays to Fridays, 08:00 AM – 12:00 NN and 1:00 – 4:30 PM.

BCPCH is the primary institution in preserving the history, culture, arts, tradition, and rich cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro people across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
