BCPCH Undertakes its Review on Strategic Development Plan

The Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH-BARMM) undertook a crucial review of its Strategic Development Plan on December 8-9, 2023, at Paragon Hotel, Cotabato City.

With the help of the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA), the review specifically aimed to ensure the Commission’s activities aligned with the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan, focusing on Chapter 6, which addresses the mainstreaming of Bangsamoro cultural diversity, beliefs, and identity.

Participated by the Commission’s Regional Staff, the two-day activity had several objectives. One primary focus was to assess the current programs and activities, ensuring their alignment with the mandates, mission and vision of the Commission which was facilitated by the Resource Person Mr. Abqary Alon.

Key Officials, including Chairperson and concurrent Commissioner for Maguindanao Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D., Commissioner for Sulu Ardan D. Sali. Commissioner for Tawi-Tawi Elmasia L. Madjilon, Basilan Commissioner Merfa A. Ampao, Executive Director Akmad D. Mama, and Admin. and Finance Division Chief Jobayra P. Tandalong actively participated in the said activity by sharing their comments, suggestions and assessment. The Commission expressed its gratitude to SUBATRA, Ms. Samrah Karon and Mr. Aaron Arenillo, for the support to the success of the activity.

As a member of the sub-sector on culture and identity under the Social Development Committee, the Commission emphasized the broader goal of preserving and recognizing the rich and diverse cultures and identities of the Bangsamoro people for the period 2023-2028.

BCPCH, under the leadership of Chairperson Salem Y. Lingasa, Ph.D., is the primary institution in preserving the history, culture, arts, tradition, and rich cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro people across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
